29 tiers with a daily limit · 19 leave one bad day

Your daily loss limit is most of your drawdown

A daily loss limit is sold as a guard rail: a smaller number, set below the maximum, that stops one session ruining an account. Divide one by the other and it is not below the maximum in any useful sense. Across the 29 futures tiers here that publish both, the daily limit is 37% to 75% of the entire drawdown.

Which means the real question is not what the limit is. It is how many full bad days it leaves you, and on 19 of 29 tiers the answer is one.

Full bad days is the maximum drawdown divided by the daily limit, rounded down: how many times you could lose the day's full allowance before the account is gone. It is not a prediction. It is the shape of the two rules taken together.

And 6 firms do not say what touching it does

This is a separate complaint against different firms, and it is the one that costs money. A daily limit can be a pause — trading stops until tomorrow, the account survives — or a breach, which ends the evaluation. The figure looks the same either way.

Says it pauses

  • MyFundedFutures · Builder
  • Tradeify · Growth Evaluation
  • Blue Guardian Futures · Futures Evaluation
  • Lucid Trading · PRO Eval

Publishes the figure, not the consequence

  • UProfit Trader · Evaluation
  • Apex Trader Funding · EOD Evaluation
  • Alpha Futures · Direct Qualified
  • The5ers Futures · Futures Evaluation
  • For Traders Futures · Fast Pro 1-Step
  • Earn2Trade · Trader Career Path

On a tier that leaves one full bad day, the difference between those two columns is the difference between losing a Tuesday and losing everything you paid.

The mirror image

Topstep's Trading Combine does the opposite: the consequence is published and the figure is not. Knowing a limit pauses you is no help when the level it pauses you at is not on the page.

Why the share climbs with the account

The worst row is not an outlier so much as the end of a pattern. Tradeify’s $150,000 allows $3,750 in a day against $5,000 in total — 75% of the whole drawdown in a single session. On 4 of the 8 ladders here the share rises at every step up — Tradeify from 60% to 75%, Blue Guardian Futures from 50% to 60%, Alpha Futures from 50% to 67%, Earn2Trade from 37% to 63% — so on those the buyer paying for a bigger account is buying a shorter fuse.

UProfit Trader runs 55%, then 73%, then 67%, which rises and then falls again. It is not a ladder with a direction, so the only safe way to read it is one size at a time.

Apex Trader Funding at 50% and Lucid Trading at 60% and The5ers Futures at 63% hold the ratio flat at every size instead, which is the more honest ladder even when the number itself is not generous: what you learn on the smallest account stays true on the largest.

And the daily limit is only one of the two loss rules. The other is the trailing drawdown, whose behaviour differs far more between firms than its size does — where the trail stops covers that one.

Questions

How many bad days does a futures daily loss limit leave you?
Divide the maximum drawdown by the daily limit. On 19 of the 29 tiers here the answer is one: a second full daily loss would exceed the total. Only 10 leave room for two.
What happens if you hit the daily loss limit?
It depends on the firm and 6 of them do not say. MyFundedFutures, Tradeify, Blue Guardian Futures, Lucid Trading state that trading is paused until the next day and the account survives. UProfit Trader, Apex Trader Funding, Alpha Futures, The5ers Futures, For Traders Futures, Earn2Trade publish the figure and not the consequence, so whether it is a pause or a breach is not on the page.
Is a daily loss limit a good thing?
As a pause, it is protection — it stops a bad session becoming a failed account. As a breach, it is a second drawdown that triggers earlier than the first. The figure looks identical either way, which is why the 6 firms that omit the consequence are omitting the part that matters.
Which futures firms have no daily loss limit?
14 of the 24 plans read here publish none at all. On those the maximum drawdown is the only loss rule, and it can be spent in one session or twenty.
