1 of 11 such rules · the only one that closes the trade

Blue Guardian’s Guardian Shield

Most prop firm rules punish you after the fact: a strike, a smaller split, a closed account. Guardian Shield does something none of the others do. It acts on the position — when a trade's floating loss reaches 1% of the funded account, the trade is closed.

Of the 11 rules of this kind across 7 firms on this site, it is the only one that does. And it sits at half the threshold Blue Guardian applies on its other plans.

The rule as it was published

Guardian Shield runs on the funded account and closes trades at a floating loss of 1% — half the 2% threshold on every other Blue Guardian plan.

What the same rule does at other firms

Every programme on this site that caps the floating loss on a single trade idea. The threshold barely varies. The consequence varies completely.

Firm Programme Cap Applies Breaching it
Blue Guardian Buy Now Pay Later 1% funded closes the position
Funding Pips 1 Step Flex 1% funded strike
Maven Trading Mini 1% both unstated
Blueberry Funded Flex 1-Step 1% both strike
Moneta Funded 1-Step Challenge 1.5% funded unstated
Blueberry Funded Instant Elite 1.5% both closes the account
Blueberry Funded Instant Lite 1.5% both closes the account
Maven Trading Standard 1-Step 2% funded cuts the split
OneFunded Core Challenge 2% evaluation strike
Era Trade 2-Step Challenge 2% evaluation unstated
Blueberry Funded Prime 2-Step not stated both none

Thresholds run 1% to 2%. Consequences run to 6 different outcomes, and the full comparison is here.

And it is no longer findable

The rule above was read from Blue Guardian's own account-model help centre on 2026-08-18. On 2026-09-01 the words “Guardian Shield” appeared on none of the home page, Buy Now Pay Later, the FAQ, how it works, Instant Starter, the blog index and the terms and conditions — the last of which runs to some forty thousand characters.

That is a statement about what a reader could find on a date, and nothing more. The rule may still apply and live somewhere this site did not look; it may have been renamed; it may be gone. Only the firm can say which, and none of those possibilities is asserted here.

It is recorded because a rule that closes your trades is worth knowing about, and because the difference between “we could not find it” and “it does not exist” is the difference between reporting and inventing.

Why a rule like this matters more than its size

A 1% cap on one idea sounds small beside an 8% account drawdown, and it is. What makes it consequential is that it binds on an open position, measured on floating loss rather than realised loss — so it can end a trade that would have come back, on a rule most buyers never read because it is not on the pricing page.

Guardian Shield is the gentlest version of that in one sense and the most intrusive in another. Gentlest, because it costs you a trade rather than the account: two firms here close the account for the same breach. Most intrusive, because it is the only one that takes the decision out of your hands rather than telling you afterwards what it cost.

Questions

What is Blue Guardian’s Guardian Shield?
Guardian Shield runs on the funded account and closes trades at a floating loss of 1% — half the 2% threshold on every other Blue Guardian plan.
Is Guardian Shield a good thing or a bad thing?
It is the only rule of its kind here that closes the trade rather than penalising you afterwards. Read as protection it caps a single bad idea at 1% and leaves the account alive, where two firms close the account outright for the same offence. Read as a constraint it means a position can be taken out of your hands while you still believe in it, at a threshold half the size of the one on the firm's other plans.
Do other prop firms have a rule like Guardian Shield?
11 programmes at 7 firms cap the floating loss on one idea — Funding Pips, Moneta Funded, Maven Trading, OneFunded, Blueberry Funded, Era Trade and Blue Guardian — at 1% to 2%. What breaching it does differs completely: strike, unstated, cuts the split, none, closes the account and closes the position. Only Blue Guardian's closes the position.
Where is Guardian Shield documented?
It was read from Blue Guardian's account-model help centre on 2026-08-18 and is recorded here with that source. On 2026-09-01 the term did not appear on the home page, Buy Now Pay Later, the FAQ, how it works, Instant Starter, the blog index and the terms and conditions. That is a statement about what could be found on a date, not about whether the rule still applies — only the firm can say that.
